No. MyLee is sensing milk properties associated with milk transition from colostrum to fully mature milk, that reflect on breastfeeding establishment, breastfeeding efficiency, and milk supply. It is not testing milk quality or nutritional composition.
The MyLee does NOT quantify the amount of milk produced, and cannot infer to the volume of milk passed by breastfeeding. Milk maturation is NOT a medical term, It is a measure developed by MyMilk professional team to assist you and your lactation professional to better understand your day to day routine breastfeeding progress. Milk maturation is measuring the process through which breastmilk changes from early colostrum to fully mature milk, in correlation with milk volume increase over the first couple of weeks of breastfeeding establishment.
Milk maturation %is computed by accurately measuring the electrical resistance of individual milk sample, and placing it on the range determined by MyMilk professional team by measurements from thousands of milk samples throughout days 1-150 after birth, from hundreds of mothers, to full term, healthy, singleton babies.
The MyLee App provides a color index to help you intuitively understand milk maturation dynamics and gives tips and alarms based on your status. Detailed interpretation of these colors would be provided within the app itself. Your goal is to keep ‘green’ dynamics throughout your measurements, while any delayed (or orange) results are a hint that you have significant chance to increase your supply by improving how often or effective your baby breastfeeds.
Identifying milk establishment delays early can help you make any necessary adjustments to your breastfeeding routine or technique earlier, with higher chances of getting back on track and avoid slippery slopes. Any delayed (or orange) results can actually be a source of encouragement that you have significant chance to increase your supply by improving how often or effective your baby breastfeeds. You can also share you progress report with your lactation provider through the App, and get tips and insights for your status directly through the App.
